Hytale Community Guidelines

Version: 1.0

Effective Date: December 7, 2025

Welcome to Hytale! These Community Guidelines help everyone create a safe, friendly, and fun place to play and create together. They apply to all use of Hytale and related spaces, including in-game chat and voice, user-run servers, forums, events, social features, and official channels.

These Guidelines work alongside our Terms of Service and EULA. If there's ever a conflict, the Terms of Service and EULA control. For privacy matters, see our Privacy Policy.

1) Our Community Values

  • Respect & Inclusion: Treat people with kindness. Our community is for everyone.
  • Creativity & Collaboration: Build together, share ideas, and celebrate each other's work.
  • Safety & Integrity: Keep yourself and others safe. Protect fair play.
  • Fun & Fair Play: Compete and cooperate honestly. Cheating ruins the experience.
  • Learning & Growth: Mistakes happen; learn, improve, and help others do the same.

2) Overview & Where These Rules Apply

These rules apply across Hytale: gameplay, text and voice chat, messaging, user-run servers, forums, social media tied to our community, contests, and events.

We may enforce these rules at our discretion and consider context, severity, and history. Server operators must also enforce these rules on servers they run.

3) Be Kind & Respectful

  • No bullying, threats, stalking, or harassment.
  • No hate speech or slurs based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
  • No doxxing: don't share anyone's personal information without clear consent.
  • Disagree without being disagreeable. Critique ideas, not people.

Example (context matters): Heated gameplay feedback is okay; targeted insults, slurs, and repeated unwanted messages are harassment and not okay.

4) Keep Everyone Safe

  • Zero tolerance for CSAM, grooming, sexualization of minors, or solicitation of minors.
  • No sexual content involving minors, and no romantic advances toward minors.
  • Don't promote self-harm or share graphic violence/gore.
  • If there's an imminent threat, contact local authorities first, then report in-game.

Example (reportable safety concern): An adult soliciting a minor, or anyone encouraging self-harm, should be reported immediately.

5) Play Fair

  • Don't cheat, exploit bugs, use hacks, bots, or unauthorized tools.
  • Don't abuse glitches for unfair advantage; report them to us instead.
  • Don't share accounts or access others' accounts.
  • Don't sell boosting or win-trading services that undermine competitive integrity.

Example (clever vs exploit): Building a smart trap with in-game mechanics is clever; using a bug to duplicate items is an exploit and not allowed.

6) Communicate Responsibly (Text, Voice, Messaging)

  • No spam, flooding, or malicious links (phishing, malware, scams).
  • No impersonation of staff, creators, or other users.
  • Keep language appropriate; avoid excessive profanity or sexual content.
  • Voice chat etiquette: no mic spam, ear-splitting noises, or intentionally disruptive audio.

Example (voice etiquette): Brief background noise happens; blasting loud audio, looping soundboards, or shouting over others to disrupt is not okay.

7) Respect Intellectual Property

  • Don't share pirated content, cracks, or cheats.
  • Respect creators' rights: credit others' UGC and follow licenses.
  • Don't infringe third-party copyrights or trademarks.
  • Follow our DMCA/copyright procedures for takedowns and counter-notice.
  • Mods and UGC must comply with our EULA and policies.

8) Create Responsibly (UGC, Mods, Servers)

  • No malware, spyware, keyloggers, or hidden miners in mods or servers.
  • No deceptive UGC (e.g., pretending to be official, fake giveaways).
  • Server operators must moderate and enforce these rules on their servers.
  • UGC must not promote illegal activity or violate these Guidelines.

Example (compliance): A mod that adds new blocks and cosmetics and is clearly labeled by its creator is fine; a mod that steals credentials or injects ads without disclosure is not.

9) Usernames, Display Names, and Server Names

  • No offensive, hateful, or sexually explicit names.
  • No impersonation of staff, officials, or other users.
  • Don't include personal information (yours or others').
  • No advertising, spam, or scam content in names.
  • No reselling, trading, ransom or maliciously blocking usernames.
  • We may require name changes and use automated filters.

10) Off-Platform Conduct

We may consider conduct on external platforms (Discord, social media, streaming) when it's clearly linked to Hytale or our community. Serious violations - like doxxing, harassment campaigns, or distributing cheats - can lead to action even if they occur off-platform.

11) Minors & Parental Controls

For accounts identified as belonging to minors, we provide parental controls and child-safety defaults as described in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Parents/guardians should supervise and manage settings. Some features (like voice chat) may be limited or opt-in.

12) Reporting Violations

  • Use the in-game reporting tools or contact us at support.hytale.com.
  • Include dates, usernames, server info, and links/screens if possible.
  • False or malicious reports may result in action against the reporter.
  • We review all reports, but we may not share specific outcomes due to privacy.
  • For imminent threats, contact local authorities first.

13) Enforcement & Consequences

We may act at our discretion based on severity, context, impact, and prior history. Possible actions include:

  • Educational prompts or warnings
  • Chat/voice restrictions
  • Temporary suspensions or matchmaking limits
  • Permanent account bans
  • Content removal and UGC limits
  • Device/IP restrictions (where lawful)

There is no guarantee of warning in serious cases. Appeals may be available as described in the Terms of Service.

14) Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines over time. For material changes, we'll provide notice via the launcher, in-game, or email. Continued participation means you accept the updated rules.
