1. Scope and Definitions
1.1 These Server Operator Policies ("Policies") apply to anyone who hosts or operates a Hytale game server ("Server Operator").
1.2 "Discovery" means any official directory, in‑game surface, or listing operated by us that helps players find servers. A "Listed Server" is a server that appears in Discovery or otherwise participates in an official listing, promotion, or recommendation program.
1.3 Baseline rules in these Policies apply to all Server Operators (whether or not listed). Sections that state they apply to "Listed Servers" are additional obligations for participation in Discovery.
1.4 These Policies work alongside the Hytale EULA, ToS, Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines. See:
- EULA: https://hytale.com/eula
- Terms of Service: https://hytale.com/terms-of-service
- Privacy Policy: https://hytale.com/privacy
- Community Guidelines: https://hytale.com/community-guidelines
1.5 Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the EULA or ToS.
2. Listing Requirements (Listed Servers Only)
To be, and remain, a Listed Server in Discovery, you must meet and maintain all of the following:
2.1 Verified Operator Identity/Contact: Provide accurate operator identity and contact details to us (kept internal unless we state otherwise).
2.2 Moderation Capability and Safety SLA: Maintain moderation coverage and workflows sufficient to timely review reports. For urgent safety issues (including CSAM/child exploitation, imminent harm/self‑harm, and serious harassment/doxxing), you must respond within 24 hours where reasonably practicable, taking into account severity and available information.
2.3 Required Disclosures: Publicly provide working links to: (a) your server website/store; (b) privacy policy; (c) refunds policy; and (d) support contact.
2.4 Content Baseline: Enforce a prohibited‑content baseline consistent with the Hytale Community Guidelines. Sexual content and real money gambling are prohibited.
2.5 Technical/Quality: Meet minimum technical requirements, including currently supported game versions, reasonable crash rate thresholds, and basic security practices (e.g., timely patching, abuse/attack mitigations).
2.6 Enforcement Ladder: Violations may result in one or more of the following, depending on severity, repeat history, and risk: (a) warning and remediation request; (b) delisting; (c) suspension of server token(s) or keys; and/or (d) account‑level actions, depending on severity, repeat history, and risk.
3. Content Maturity Self‑Rating (Listed Servers)
Listed Servers must publish and maintain an accurate content self‑rating that informs Discovery surfacing and parental controls.
3.1 Age Group Target (pick one):
- All Ages
- Teen
- Mature
3.2 Content Descriptors (checkboxes):
- Horror/fear
- Blood/gore
- Language
- Drugs/alcohol/tobacco references
- Gambling imagery (non‑interactive depiction)
- User‑to‑user chat / voice
3.3 Monetization Descriptors (checkboxes):
- Donations / tips
- Subscriptions

- Ads (and whether an ad network is used)
- Cosmetics‑only purchases
- Gameplay‑affecting purchases (disclosed)

3.4 Accuracy and Updates: Keep the rating and descriptors accurate and up‑to‑date. We may require changes or delist servers if we reasonably determine that ratings are inaccurate or required controls are missing.
4. Monetization Rules (All Server Operators)
4.1 General Requirements:
(a) All monetization must be truthful and lawful; no deceptive pricing, hidden fees, or misleading claims.
(b) Disclose refund policies and key purchase terms before checkout.
(c) Comply with consumer protection, advertising, tax, and payment laws.
(d) Sexual content, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), speculative crypto tokens, play-to-earn token schemes, similar blockchain-based schemes, and real money gambling are prohibited on all servers. Accepting cryptocurrency as a payment method for otherwise-permitted transactions is allowed.
4.2 All Ages Servers:
(a) No Paid Random Items (see EULA and Section 5).
(b) Ads allowed only if family‑safe/certified.
4.3 Teen/Mature:
(a) Gameplay‑affecting purchases are allowed but must be clearly tagged/disclosed.
(b) Ads must be appropriate for the declared age group.
(c) Paid Random Items are allowed only with full disclosures and controls in Section 5.
5. Randomness Disclosure Standard (All Server Operators)
5.1 Required Disclosures for Paid Random Items (e.g., loot boxes/crates/capsules):
(a) Show odds numerically (do not rely only on labels like "common/rare").
(b) Disclose duplicate rules, any pity/guarantee mechanics, and any time‑limited odds changes.
(c) Provide an in‑server location where players can review current odds and mechanics at any time.
5.2 Expected Cost Disclosure (at minimum):
(a) Expected spend to obtain each top‑tier outcome.
(b) Expected spend to obtain any featured outcome.
(c) Expected spend to obtain a full set.
(d) Maximum spend if a guarantee exists.
(e) Calculations must use the exact published odds and pity rules.
5.3 Recordkeeping: Retain odds tables and change history for 12 months and provide them upon request. We may request this information or conduct audits in connection with complaints, anomaly detection, or enforcement actions.
6. Prohibited "Double Random" Mechanics (All Server Operators)
6.1 Banned Examples (when payment is involved at any stage):
- Buy crate → random chance to get "key shards" → combine shards → spin wheel for reward.
- Buy loot box → random chance to get "ticket" → use ticket to roll again.
- Buy random pack → yields random currency amount → currency usable only for gacha.
6.2 Permitted: Non‑monetized multi‑stage gameplay RNG where no payment is involved at any stage.
7. Official Cosmetics Compatibility (Listed Servers)
7.1 Support First‑Party Cosmetics: Do not block equip, strip, or materially break rendering of official player‑owned cosmetics.
7.2 Allowed Theme Overrides: Limited to specific areas/minigames, must be disclosed to players, and must restore the player's official cosmetics after leaving the overridden experience.
7.3 Never Allowed:
(a) Selling "official‑looking" cosmetics that could confuse players about origin or endorsement.
(b) Blocking official cosmetics to force sales of server cosmetics.
8. Revenue Share (All Server Operators)
8.1 Revenue Share Rate: 0% for the first 2 years (until January 13th 2028).
Our goal is to keep the revenue share as low as reasonably possible to support server success worldwide. Revenue share levels may vary based on the level of services, oversight, or infrastructure provided. Additional optional services may be offered in the future and may involve separate fees or terms, which will be disclosed in advance.
9. Enforcement
9.1 Factors: We consider severity, harm, repeat history, operator responsiveness, and good-faith efforts to comply.
9.2 Actions: May include warnings, corrective action plans, delisting, token/key suspension, and account‑level actions.
9.3 Appeals: As described in the ToS (and where applicable under regional law).
9.4 Survival: Obligations relating to reporting, payment, and audits survive delisting or termination as applicable.
10. Changes to These Policies
We may update these Policies from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice consistent with applicable law (e.g., via launcher, in‑game, email, or website). Continued operation of a server after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policies.
